When the lack of snow on the ground is a bit more than disappointing, I find that cutting out snowflakes from paper can be very cheerful. Using pages from old books also adds a unique touch to the craft while also reusing paper.

Read the instructions and use the images to guide your crafting. I really enjoyed doing this and hope you will too.

All you need for this project are pages from old books (don't plan to read them again after this) and scissors. An Exacto knife is optional but helpful for intricate designs.

To begin, take a large book page and cut it into the

the shape of a square. This can be done by bending one side over at the corner and folding it so edges meet and create a partial slant. Then cut along the straight edge created by where the folded edge now overlaps the rest of the rectangular paper. You will be cutting off a long rectangular shape.

Now you should have a right triangle (45-90-45 degree angles if you know your math). Fold that triangle in half so that it creates a smaller triangle (also 45-90-45).

Next, fold your paper into thirds. This is with the widest angle being at the base of both folds. It is easiest if you roll the paper in a sort of way and then press it flat. Hopefully, the images help at this part.

After the paper has been folded it is time to cut. Start with a diagonal line near the top (opposite side from where the paper has been folded into a point).

This will give your paper

snowflake six sides and make it appear more detailed. Now you can cut whatever pattern you would like into the paper!

Just make sure to cut through all layers of paper.

Finally, carefully unfold the book page to reveal your masterpiece!
