I got to Bookmarks about an hour early to set up (a few people had arrived much sooner than us others who came at 5). Suzie and I put cute little cotton candy on sticks (must I add that is a much more daunting task than what it might seem) while a few others decorated the stage and set up chairs for the audience. We had tasty chocolate covered pretzels, mini cupcakes (which I may or may not have shoved an entire cupcake into my mouth...more than once) and some cotton candy on a stick. These desserts, I would later find can be quite addictive, as well as nausea-inducing.
This was the first event where I got to meet an author of a book that I had recently read (and loved). I have been in the presence of amazing authors before, but none that I had read or loved their book so much. I remember when he came in I may or may not have been completely dumbfounded for words, luckily I got the memo just to introduce myself which I successfully did--thank goodness. I might add that he was one of the most chill funny and down-to-earth people I've ever met. He also was amazing at making the atmosphere very relaxed and comfortable, as though he was not some amazing author who was blessing US by giving us his presence haha.
I was the photography girl, going around at all the angels getting the best shots, trying my hardest for amazing angles and perfect moments--I might add that I got a few. I felt like a mix between a paparazzi and a fan-crazy girl; I am still not entirely sure which category I fall into--he also might have been weirded out by me with all those click click moments, but it’s all good.

Our wonderful Charlotte hosting the event.

Mr. La Sala answering an audience member's question
When we got to the book signing I asked him the question requested by my friend. On said Mr. La Sala’s bio he says that anime is banned on the astral plane so, as inquired by my friend, I asked him why anime would ever be banned? To which he asked me if I had access to the astral plane; I was not awarded the knowledge as I did not answer this inquisitive statement with a proper answer. If you would like to continue this inquiry be sure to as him yourself. I only feel it my duty to you--a book lover, and someone willing to read a blog that is not the most popular-- with the hint that you might want to say you do have certain access. ;) But you did not hear it from me.

A fan excited to get her copy signed! (This is one of my top three favorite shots from the evening)

Ryan sporting his wonderfully handcrafted Reverie Jean Jacket.
Ryan and the event described in one word by a few of the attendees:
Suzie--Whimsy
Cat--Incandescent
Me--Calming
Charlotte (the host)--Sweet (or snazzy)
Charlotte 2.0--Magical
Hope--Wonderful
All in all, as the first event with a recent author and one as creative and kind as Ryan was I was entirely impressed. I enjoyed myself fully, only having the push to leave Bookmarks as a final resort that I had to go home and attend to some schoolwork previously assigned to me. I hope all my future book events will be as sugary, creative, and happy as the one I just attended!

Have a lovely day :)
