'Sup, interwebs. My name is Jennie, and I'm a rising junior in high school. I guess I officially joined TAC about a month ago when the lovely Charlotte let me tag along to the May meeting, but I've been living vicariously through her for several months prior and went to my first event in January, so it's a bit iffy on the exacts. I've been a reader since before I can even remember, and I've always loved story-telling. I just think there's something so beautiful about somehow putting together the words that can touch peoples' hearts and really impact peoples' lives.
Plus, it's just fun to make up a couple imaginary people and see what trouble they can get into.
Strictly speaking, my "favorite" book is most likely whatever book I read most recently. At the moment, it's Neil Gaiman's and Terry Pratchett's Good Omens (though it's not technically YA, it does have the absolute best humor and style), but for a good long while it was Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, which has unarguably set the standard for YA fantasy in terms of diversity and dynamics at the very least.
I'm going to try to avoid going on a book rant, as there's already a book review I'm supposed to be writing up (spoilers-no-spoilers, but if you liked the recent Aurora Rising from the masterminds behind Illuminae and Meg Cabot's Avalon High, which was an old favorite of mine, then you'll love the book), but I will say that my favorite YA books (and stories in general) tend to have booming diverse ensemble casts with slightly chaotic dynamics and overall mostly-good intentions.
Anywho, that's me, that's what I like, YA is awesome (when it's not swimming in overdone tropes), can I get a wahoo?
